Era förlovningsberättelser...
Skrev om det på vår bröllopssida, men på engelska (eftersom Matt är amerikan), så jag kopierar in texten här
Matt flew out to see me on August 11 last year, like many times before. In the car on our way from the airport, Matt told me he had made dinner reservations for us, at night, in town. He was not going to tell me anything more, other than to dress nicely.
Said and done. Matt looked so handsome in his dark blue, thin striped suit and pink shirt with a matching tie, when we walked hand in hand in Stockholm City. I was so proud to be walking next to him.
Since we had an hour to spare before going to the restaurant, Matt strongly suggested we should take a walk by the water. Of course, I had a better idea in mind, and convinced him to take a stroll in the older parts of town. As we were getting closer to the area, we heard loud music playing, saw flags and banners, and people who were dressed in all kinds of costumes. It was the annual gay parade. Needless to say, we ended up taking a walk by the water.
During our promenade, I realized we were getting close to where the ferryboats come in, the place where we first met. I excitedly mentioned this to Matt, who in return smiled at me and said 'Yeah, you're right'. This was something he had planned all along. There, on that same spot where I had been standing years earlier, totally unaware of whom I was going to meet, Matt explained his love for me. He took my hands, went down on one knee, and asked me to be his wife (in perfect Swedish). I think we all know what my answer was. Honestly, I don't remember the exact words, because I was so caught up in the happiest moment of my life.
We stood there hugging and kissing for some time, when Matt all of the sudden said 'Eve, the ring!!!'. Apparently, we had been so excited about the fact that we were getting married, that we had forgotten about the ring! It was more than I could ever wish for, and fit perfectly on my finger.
Everything was witnessed by smiling people passing by, and a Texan couple declaring 'That was the sweetest thing I've ever seen, boy!'
Later, it turned out Matt had carefully picked out a nice seafood restaurant, called Paul & Norbert, located in the nicer parts of town. The place was very romantic, we had a small booth to ourselves, and the food was delicate and tasted delicious (I think - I had the most handsome man at my table, who had just put the most beautiful ring I had ever seen, on my finger!). There is an embarrassing story here, about when the waitress came and asked us if we would like anything to drink. Apparently, I just stared at her with a smile, and did not say a word. After a few moments of awkward silence, Matt had to tell her that we just had gotten engaged, and needed a moment 'to land'.
Nowadays I can talk, but I still haven't landed.
